Mental Health Awareness
Building awareness around Mental Health and creating positive conversations around it is one of the major areas where the Team of Better Minds works. The various training, workshops and lectures given by the Team, in the field of Mental Health Awareness, are as follows:
- Teaching and training (through a manual specially developed for this purpose) the Primary Health Workers of the entire state of Sikkim, India for ‘providing basic mental health services in the community’, for over 15 days at their place of work with live case demonstrations in the community
- Training called ‘Compassionate Care’ for doctors, interns and nurses of Global Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Mount Abu
- Training called ‘Mind Matters’ for sensitizing spiritualists across India on mental health issues in Manesar
- Lectures on ‘Public Education for Mental Health Prevention, Stigma Reduction, Early Intervention and Management of Psychosocial Problems and Mental Illness’ at the WPA XVII World Congress of Psychiatry in Berlin, Germany; the WPA Annual Conference in Cape Town, South Africa; the Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS 2016) in Bhopal; the Indian Association of Private Psychiatry (West Bengal) & Indian Psychoanalytical Society in Kolkata; the Indian Council for Medical Research in New Delhi; ANCIPS 2014 in Pune
- One-hour Radio Talk on ‘Mental Health, Spirituality, Stigma Reduction and WPA Public Education Initiatives’ for East Wave Community Radio in Lenasia, Johannesburg, South Africa
- Presentation on ‘Bridging Mental Health Gaps in Developing Countries like India’ at the XVI World Congress of Psychiatry in Spain
- Lectures on ‘Community Mental Health and Programs’ at the Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS 2015) in Hyderabad; the 13th World Congress of Social Psychiatry in New Delhi
